Beini Liu
My name is Beni Liu, a doctoral candidate in Ethnomusicology at
Universiti Utara Malaysia. My research focuses on cultural identity,
music education, and the intersection of anthropological approaches
with contemporary music cultures. I also run an online education studio
and a Douyin account (Lu Ru Music Exam Prep) that creatively
integrates cat memes with music history instruction.
Benjamin Burkhart
Benjamin Burkhart is a musicologist at the Hanover University of
Music, Drama and Media. His research and teaching focus on the media
cultures, analysis, and social history of popular music and jazz. Prior to
his work in Hanover, he served as an interim professor for the history
and theory of popular music at the University of Giessen, a senior
scientist at the Institute for Jazz Research at the University of Music and
Performing Arts Graz, and a research associate at the Center for Popular
Culture and Music at the University of Freiburg.
Camilo Andrés Lozano Velasquez
Camilo Andrés Lozano Velásquez is a composer and music researcher
from Bogotá, Colombia, with a particular interest in creating and
studying film scoring and popular music. Additionally, Camilo is
interested in early music, combining performance and research to
explore its historical and theoretical contexts. Camilo holds a Bachelor’s
degree in Composition and a Master’s in Music Theory from Javeriana
University (Bogotá, Colombia). He later completed a Master’s by
Research at University College Cork (Cork, Ireland), focusing on critical
musicology to examine music through analytical lenses from different
disciplines. He is currently a Musicology PhD student at Case Western
Reserve University (Cleveland, OH, United States of America).
