Sarah Caissie Provost
Sarah Caissie Provost is an assistant professor of music history at the
University of Hartford in Connecticut, USA. Her scholarly work is
concentrated on two areas: swing-era jazz with a focus on gender, and
music’s use in ecological and species preservation efforts.
Shang Gao
Shang Gao is a graduate student at the Communication University of
China. His research interests include media sound studies, sound art
and science, and popular music recording. He is a student member of
IASPM and the Acoustical Society of China. His paper, “Nostalgic Echo:
Why Do Chinese Adolescents Prefer Low-Quality Audio of Henan
Opera?”, has been accepted for presentation at the IASPM 2025
Biennial Conference in Paris.

Stanley S. Chang is Professor of Mathematics at
Wellesley College with a research agenda in the
digital humanities. He is interested in linguistic
intersections of mathematics, music, and languages,
particularly in relation to popular culture.
